Constituent hyphae generally unbranched, septate, pale brown, smooth-walled. Conidiophores cylindrical, septate, unbranched, sub-hyaline, smooth-walled. Conidiogenous cells integrated, terminal, fusiform, monoblastic, hyaline, smooth-walled. Conidia aseptate, navicular to fusiform, sometimes slightly curved, hyaline, smooth-walled, solitary or aggregated on a cushion-like head (copied from Perera et al. 2023).

Type species: Synnemellisia hyalospora N.K. Rao, Manohar. & Goos, Mycologia 80(6): 896 (1989) [1988]

Notes: Rao et al. (1988) introduced Synnemellisia to accommodate single species S. hyalospora. Crous et al. (2016a) introduced the second species S. aurantia and provided first DNA sequence data for the genus. Species of Synnemellisia occur on woody substrates (Rao et al. 1988, Crous et al. 2016a) (copied from Perera et al. 2023).
