Armatella litseae

 

Armatella litseae (Henn.) Theiss. & Syd.

Parasitic on the surface of leaves. Hyphae superficial, brown to reddish, straight to sub-straight, septate, closely reticulate. Appressoria 15–17 µm (x̅ = 16 µm, n = 10) in diam., 2-celled, brown to reddish, lobate to single stellate, form near the septa, alternate, antrorse. Sexual morph: Ascomata 210–235 × 174–192 µm (x̅ = 226 × 180 µm, n = 10), superficial, scattered, globose to subglobose, verrucose, covered with tuberculate projections. Peridium comprising amorphous, black outer stratum and brown inner stratum of textura angularis to textura globulosa. Hamathecium with evanescent paraphyses. Asci 51–61 × 26–29 µm (x̅ = 54 × 27 µm, n = 10), 4–8-spored, unitunicate, ovoid to clavate. Ascospores 33–35 × 10–11 µm (x̅ = 34 × 10 µm, n = 10), 2–3-seriate, hyaline to light brown, ellipsoidal to oblong, aseptate when immature, 1-septate at maturity, constricted at the septum, rounded at both ends. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
